Terms of Service

Written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask.

Last updated: 7 July 2026

1. What this service is

YouTubeToText ("the service") is an API that returns transcripts of YouTube videos, built from the video's caption tracks. By using the service you agree to these terms.

2. Your use of transcripts

You may use transcripts you fetch for personal or commercial purposes — but the underlying content isn't ours to license. Video content belongs to its creators, and YouTube has its own terms of service. Your use of transcripts must respect both the video creators' rights and YouTube's rights. You are responsible for making sure your use — quoting, summarising, republishing, training, whatever it is — is lawful in your situation.

3. Acceptable use

Breaching these can get your access limited or blocked without notice.

4. Paid credits and refunds

The paid tier is not open yet; no payment is currently taken. When it opens: paid credits will carry a no-quibble refund policy — if you're unhappy, email and unused credits get refunded. No forms, no interrogation.

5. The service is provided as-is

This is an independent service that depends on data from YouTube, which can change without warning. The service is provided as-is, without warranties of availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. Endpoints, limits, and features may change; I'll aim to announce breaking changes ahead of time but can't always guarantee it.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the preceding 12 months — which for free-tier use is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the service evolves; the "last updated" date above will change when they do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
